What is a fixed projector screen?

A fixed projector or projection screen is a screen that will be mounted on a wall like a picture frame.  Once the fixed screen is assembled and installed, it will be stay there until it is moved.  Fixed screens are favored because of their flatness and uniform screen image.  A fixed frame screen does not tend to move from air movement like a motorized screen or manual pull down.  Plus the material is tensioned on all four sides of a fixed frame screen to keep the material nice and flat.  Fixed frame screens have many material options for all different projector types.  UST Ultra Short Throw, Long Throw and Short Throw projectors.  Material for fixed frame screens range from white to almost black.  Material for fixed frame screens work in rooms that are very dark to rooms that have quite a bit of ambient light, make sure to select the correct screen material for the application.  Here is a short assembly video of the STR series 2 3/8" (6cm) fixed frame screen - https://youtu.be/uSp0f_Ko3CQ

How do you mount a fixed frame projection screen?

Each brand and brand series will differ in assembly and installation.  Mounting the screen will depend on how the projection screen is made to be hung.   Many fixed frame screens mount to the wall like a large picture frame would, or like the cabinet french cleat method.  Here is a short assembly video of the STR series 2 3/8" (6cm) fixed frame screen.  The video shows the mounting for this series of projection screen only - https://youtu.be/uSp0f_Ko3CQ

What is the best material for a fixed projector screen?

This depends on the environment and the projector.  It is generally recommended to purchase a white screen for a dark room and a darker shade of grey for a lighter room.  As the room gets darker the material should be lighter, and as the room gets lighter the material should be darker.  This is because projectors cannot project black and the image will be washed out as the room gets lighter.   UST projectors will not be compatible with the same screen materials as a standard or long throw projectors.  If speakers will be placed behind the screen then woven or perforated screen materials are recommended.  Recommendations are always great, but the most important is personal preference.  What you like best will be the best screen material for you.  We recommend trying samples out before purchasing a screen.  Here is a link to samples - https://www.silverticketproducts.com/collections/all/category_samples.  Feel free to contact us if you have more questions.  Click the contact us link above.

 What does Fixed Frame mean?

Fixed Frame is a fixed frame projection screen.  Meaning the screen material is attached the a frame like a large picture frame.  The fixed frame will hang on your wall and your projector will project its light on the screen material inside the frame.  This is among the best ways to manufacture a projection screen because of the uniform tension of the screen material because of the fixed frame.
